the first meeting

The first time I saw him was on a weekend. The other dogs were carrying on about something in the field and I thought they were imagining things. They do this quite often, at least thats what I thought. I saw something moving in the middle of the field. It was moving down the field toward the pond. When I first looked I thought it was a coyote. Not surprising since they have been spotted in the back field. I grabbed the binoculars to get a better look and realized that I wasn't seeing a coyote but a Weimareiner. What the heck? What was that dog, which I didn't consider to be a farm dog, doing in our field? Thinking that it was just a stray I didn't think anymore of it.
Later on I found out that this dog had been in the field for a few days. Apparently some uncaring person had dropped it off, thinking that out in the country it could survive on its own. It was terribly thin and scared to go beyond the fence{electric}. I had dog food for my own dogs and I started putting it out for the dog that I started calling Ghost.
